Being at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva, Switzerland) since 2001, I partecipated in the design of the control system of the HMPID detector of the ALICE experiment.In 2002 I joined the CMS Tracker collaboration, where I am project manager in charge of design and commissioning of the thermal screen control system. As a systems integrator, my responsibilities include selection of field devices, controllers design, simulation and controllers tuning, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and human machine interface programming following industrial standards.I performed systems modeling and optimization, developed testing and commissioning procedures and studied risk analysis. General guidelines for high energy physics detectors represent a deliverable. All stages of the project are managed using a System Engineering approach.My task is also coordinating the collaboration control groups (some 30 physicists and engineers working in several European research institutes and universities) to design and commission a distributed control system.
