Isabelle Blanc

Born in 1963 in France, Isabelle Blanc Sommereux graduated at the Ecole Polytechnique Féminine in 1984. She then undertook a Master of Sciences at the University of Wisconsin (USA) – Madison at the Solar Energy Laboratory (1985). Back to France she worked at Ecole des Mines on modelling thermal transfer within buildings and obtained her PhD in 1991 with the « Study of the dynamic coupling of building elements by modal synthesis ». In 1992, she joined INERIS (Institut National de l’Environnement Industriel et des Risques) performing several Impact Assessment studies for industrials.  She was active in applying the concept of Life Cycle Assessment to buildings. Appointed as an ISO Expert for TC207- 14040  “Environmental Impact assessments” between 1993 and 1998. In 1996 joined Bio Intelligence Service as a LCA consultant and worked for major French industrial. Among several contributions to the LCA fields, I. Blanc contributed to the development of a framework for LCA data quality assessment (RE.CO.R.D. study), applied LCA to road infrastructures (LCPC study) and performed a study for electrical vehicles (funded by ADEME and AVERE).
